One contract.
One accountable team.
Most jobs are not one discipline. A campus needs buildings, roads, drainage and a renovation at the same time. General contracting is Donkem taking all of it on one contract, with one chain of responsibility.
Four disciplines,
one signature.
A general contract is not a separate trade. It is whichever of the other four Donkem disciplines a job actually needs, held together by one team rather than coordinated by you.
Ground-up homes, churches, schools and student residences, foundation to finish.
A-03.2Civil EngineeringSite development, roads, drainage, parking and hard landscaping.
A-03.3Pipeline & Reservoir WorksPipeline laying, reservoirs and corrosion control.
A-03.4Renovation & RestorationStructural renovation without disrupting what is already standing.
Who owns what,
on every contract.
Every contract runs through the same chain, so there is never a question of who owns a decision on site.
- 01Managing DirectorOwns the contract. The person a client escalates to, and the signature on the letter.
- 02Project managerOwns the programme. Reports progress against the dated programme rather than in general terms.
- 03Site engineerOwns what is built. Setting out, levels, and conformity with the drawings.
- 04ForemanOwns the day. Labour, sequence and the state of the site at close of work.
- 05Store keeperOwns the materials. What arrived, what was used, and what is left.
Before they commit.
What does general contracting mean in practice?
It means one contract and one accountable team rather than a client coordinating separate trades. Donkem takes the whole scope, whichever of the disciplines it draws on, and carries responsibility for the programme from groundbreak to handover.
Can you take on part of a job rather than all of it?
Yes. Several contracts on the record are single packages on sites where other work was already under way, including civil packages delivered alongside a building already standing.
Who do I call when something is wrong?
The chain of responsibility runs from the Managing Director down to the store keeper, so there is never a question of who owns a decision on site. You are given a person, not a switchboard, and the office answers within one business day.
Do you subcontract the work out?
The plant and the supervision are ours. Donkem runs a standing fleet rather than hiring it in, and at least 30 per cent of the labour force on any contract is recruited from the project host community.
